Using the existing structure as a base, the design team sought to create a space that would allow guests to rejuvenate their souls amidst nature's embrace. By strategically lowering the windowsills, the height difference brought in an abundance of natural light, enhancing the rustic and simple aesthetic of the concrete elements. The addition of wooden furniture further softened the space, creating a harmonious dialogue between the heart and the environment.
To improve the flow between public and private areas, the staircase was relocated to the center of the building, transforming the indoor space and creating a more defined division of rooms. The introduction of French windows increased the influx of natural light, brightening the living space and blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors.
Utilizing materials such as aluminum doors and windows, sanitary ware, and wear-resistant wooden flooring, the realization of Nature Meishan involved a careful selection of elements that would complement the overall design concept. The result is a space that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings while providing a tranquil and inviting atmosphere.
With an indoor area of approximately 433 square meters, Nature Meishan encompasses a lobby, a kitchen, an island area, and five double suites. The layout maximizes the use of space while maintaining a sense of openness and accessibility.
The design of Nature Meishan is characterized by its ability to create a visual perception that resonates with the natural environment. By lowering the windowsills, the space invites guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature, while the white staircase and blue walls complement the outdoor scenery, creating a serene oasis for relaxation and contemplation.
The renovation of Nature Meishan was completed in April 2019, and it stands as a testament to the transformative power of design. By preserving the integrity of the original structure and incorporating elements that enhance the connection between humans and nature, Wei Tong Chen has created a space that offers a new lease of life to an old building.
Recognized for its innovative design and practicality, Nature Meishan was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that meet professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world. Nature Meishan's ability to seamlessly blend architecture, nature, and human interaction has earned it this well-deserved recognition.
